Free Hugs All Around

If asked two years ago, I wouldn’t be able to wrap my mind around the Germans giving and receiving Free Hugs.
They were up there on my version of the frigid-o-metre with the Brits.

The first time I saw the campaign in action was in Cologne, on the square in front of the cathedral. The mimes and pavement painters received more attention than the small lonely-looking group of Free Huggers did. Even I sidestepped them.

I never paid the campaign a second thought, until Dan sent me a link to an old video of Juan Mann’s on Youtube two days ago.

And I watched, and watched, and watched again.
To see the black&white bursted into colours after the first hug.
To see the number of petition signatures grew.
To see the policemen finally gave in and returned the hug.

Then again on Dan’s blog. Free Hugs in Hamburg.

Next time I see a sign ‘Free Hugs‘.
I will cease my suspicion, will curb my reservation.
And hug as tightly as I dare.

I think I just need a hug as much as everybody else does.

The Cheerleaders and the Drunk

– 01 –

I need some (okay, a LOT) persuasion and encouragement in order to pick up a textbook and start reviewing — or start reading it for the first time in the semester.

Sixteen days, and then the first examination. I hope these little guys’ unrelenting stares and inaudible tiny cheers will help.

From the Official Site of Citadels‘s designer – Bruno Faidutti -, here is an interesting variant:

# 3 – Drinking Game
– When a new player gets the crown, everybody drinks to the new king.
– When a tavern is built, everybody drinks to its builder
– When a player is stolen, or has a district destroyed by the Condottiere, he drinks to forget it.

If I were the publisher, I would have made it an official rule.
The only thing I can do now is to persuate some friends to play the variant with me.

There’s No Skeletons in the Closet (Note)

Just to clarify (^___^)

All five so-called secrets I’ll be posting (see the first one below), due to an unfortunate tagging-spree of You-Know-Who, (Thanks, by the way.) are not really ‘secrets’.

As in, ‘รู้แล้วเหยียบไว้เลยนะ!’ — a phrase that usually works quite the opposite anyways.

They are merely stuff I assume nobody knows, since no one had asked about it.
As for the secret secrets… why should I tell you? (^^)

So, on to Part 2/5: You’d Wish You’d Never Known.
